Lisa Savy is a screenwriter and producer with credits in writing, producing, editing and music supervision. She produced a feature film Defying Gravity, short films World of Wargames and Not in My Backyard, and is currently co-producing two other feature films: Tres Cruzados and The Mossyrock Redemption. Lisa Savy administered the Venice Arts Screenwriting Competition from 1999 to 2003. This screenwriting competition was the first that made use of online payment, online submission (including uploading of manuscript), and online judging (with scores and comments available to entrants).

Lisa also pioneered the Query Submission Service for screenwriters. Between 2000 and 2006 she authored and sent out over 1200 queries for aspiring screenwriters and was known as the best in the business.

In 2006 Lisa took time off from Venice Arts in order to pursue a personal dream to produce one of her own screenplays - Defying Gravity. The low price and high quality of DV made this dream an actuality. She formed her own production company Balancing Act Pictures. She found a distributor through the brute force method of gathering contact info for a ton of distributors, researching which ones would be most appropriate for her low-budget movie, and sending out email queries one-by-one.

She realized that she could apply her Screenplay Query Submission System to distributors - just use a different database. And once again, this is the first automated online query submission service of this type.

Shelby Walker is the newest and a most welcome addition to the Venice Arts family (both literally and figuratively, since she is also Lisa's daughter). A graduate of U.C. Irvine, she is an experienced production assistant and articulate writer.
